About me

My name is Joanna M. Wilczyńska (alias JeanneMonice), I am an illustrator and graphic designer originally from the seaside, but currently residing in Toruń (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland).

I have been professionally working in graphic design since 2014, and I’ve been drawing since I was a child. I’ve always had a passion for creating things (in my spare time, I indulge in various handcrafts). I love learning and broadening my skills (recently, quantum physics and neurobiology have fascinated me). I hold degrees in cultural studies (UKW) and political science (UMK). While I never finished my architecture studies, I now channel that interest into mural projects for interiors (and more).

I find inspiration for my work in nature, music, science fiction, fantasy… and in everything that stirs me. As an aesthete, I greatly value the end result of what I create (so I can proudly sign my name on it). I grew up immersed in Asian comics (manga and manhwa) and Western European comics (French-Belgian), as well as watching animated films (Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, Adult Swim, Tom Moore). In terms of artistic movements, Art Nouveau (G. Klimt, A. Mucha), Art Deco, and ethnic motifs have had a significant influence on my style, all of which can be seen in my illustrations and designs.

My graphic designs are infused with nostalgia for the 80s, neon colors, and a fascination with new technologies (video games, VR). My professional journey began as a UI designer at DEiMiC, a company that creates home automation solutions. I’ve also been closely collaborating with Den of Imagination studio for a while now.

I believe in the power of education through play, which is why projects for children (board games, illustrated books) hold a special place in my heart.
